Author John Allen: 'Below is a photo image on the left of R. Gordon Wasson and mycologist Rolf Singer in Huautla de Jiménez, Oaxaca, México with a large collection of Psilocybe caerulescens, circa 1955-57. The second image is of author John W. Allen and R. Gordon Wasson in San Francisco, Ca., circa 1978. This book provides a brief history of Dr. Wasson's first meetings with the Mazatec shaman, Dona María Sabina. After this meeting between Wasson and María Sabina, Wasson reinvented the mushroom. This later popularized its use among educated westerners.'
