Press Release

A panel of six people, including a recovering crack addict, a police officer, and a state’s attorney will debate decriminalizing, legalizing and medicalizing street drugs on Saturday, June 8th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Wolcutt Town Hall at 10 Kenea Avenue. The public forum, called “Street Drugs and Public Safety: Reconsidering the Current Model” brings a hot national issue to the Waterbury area.

Speaking for the status quo will be Waterbury State’s Attorney John Connelly, Wolcott Police Officer and DARE representative Brian Thies, and Paul Sequeira, Assistant Superintendent of Education in Waterbury.

The program will be directed by Michael Bruce of Wolcutt and hosted by Tom Brophy, former talk show host at WATR radio.

The event will broadcast live on Channel 21.
