Akha Childrens' Books are Now Finished
Dear Friends:
The Akha children's books are finished. All
20,000. We are starting to take them out to the villages now.
We spent the week finding more than 10 of
the last 40 villages we haven't been to yet, so we anticipate
we have about 30 left to find now.
Already it is obvious that 20,000 books won't
be enough even for Thailand so as soon as we are able we will
be doing a second printing, this will include for Laos and Burma.
The second level Children's book is in a
final assembly and edit now. We hope to have this done by mid
December.
As well gearing up for second edition of
the Akha Journal of the Golden Triangle which will be half in
Akha language this time. Getting all the writers on line will
take some time.
Delivery of all the books requires that we
travel to EACH village each time, so naturally this requires a
lot of off road driving, a few who have traveled along can attest
to what this is like, since we don't slow down for much.
Villages are spread below Chiangmai, Lampang,
Phrae, Ngao, Fang, Mae Suai, Wavi, Thatong, Chiangrai, Chiang
Saen, Maesai, Haen Taek, Huai Krai, Doi Tung, Doi Mae Salong,
Phayao, and a few other places.
Fuel runs about $40 per day, tires, repairs,
etc.
So we do need your continued support and
donations.
While some argue endlessly about "scripts"
we deliver books in Akha language....to everyone.
